Breed is of French origin that is an import breed in Canada. A most delicious meat bird of smaller proportions. Hardy, healthy stock from right here at QT Bird farm that is raised year round to provide both hatching eggs and started chicks to offer at select times. A breed that is raised both as a brown egg layer and gourmet style table fare. Be sure to place your interest for these birds on our reserve list.

If you are looking for a chicken not of a purebreed, but hardy mixed breed, these are available to consider.

Parent stock are dual purpose laying brown eggs and excellent meat quality. Hand raised for good temperment and easy care. Great as foragers and have their own distinguished beauty. Economical bird for small holdings or as starter birds for anyone interested in keeping a few to have.

Silkie hens are excellent for broodiness to natural incubation hatches of special eggs  of your various birds. For example  we use them to hatch call ducklings!

We often are asked for Hens. So, here they are. Only available to pick up.

A note about young layer hens: We only sell young stock under one year old as egg laying birds. These are NOT spent older hens that have reduced production.

Our young hens offer to you as started birds for high egg production. In the case of silkie hens for broodiness.
